CBM

Credit Bureau Malaysia

One of Malaysia's licensed private credit reporting agencies, alongside CTOS and Experian. It was set up with Bank Negara backing and focuses heavily on small-business (SME) credit reporting, producing reports lenders use to assess borrowers.

Credit Bureau Malaysia compiles credit information into reports and scores that banks and other lenders can buy when assessing an application. It is especially associated with SME and business credit assessment, though its data also touches individuals who guarantee or run businesses. Like CTOS, it operates under the Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010 and is regulated for accuracy and fair use of data.

For most individual consumers, CCRIS and CTOS are the two records that matter most, but if you run or guarantee a business you may also appear in CBM data. You have the right to request your own report and to dispute anything inaccurate. Knowing which agency a lender uses helps you check the right report before you apply.
