Editorial Standards

How we source, verify, and publish credit education content.

Our commitment

Credit and debt content is classified as YMYL — Your Money, Your Life. Inaccurate information about credit scoring, debt management, or loan eligibility can cause real financial harm. We hold ourselves to the highest editorial standards because the stakes are real.

Every guide, tool, and analysis published on credit.com.my goes through the same editorial process — regardless of whether it involves an affiliate link or not.

Sourcing policy

We use primary sources wherever possible. These include:

  • Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) circulars and guidelines
  • Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010 and subsequent amendments
  • AKPK publications and programme documentation
  • CTOS Digital and Experian Malaysia official documentation
  • Kementerian Kewangan (Ministry of Finance) budget reports
  • BNM Financial Stability Review and quarterly reports

Secondary sources — news articles, industry reports, third-party research — are used only when corroborated by a primary source. If a claim cannot be verified against a primary source, we say so explicitly.

Fact-checking process

Every guide is reviewed for accuracy against primary sources before publication. Our process:

1
Draft

Content is written with inline source references for every factual claim.

2
Verify

Each referenced figure, rate, threshold, or legal provision is checked against the original source document.

3
Review

The complete piece is reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and completeness before publication.

4
Monitor

Published content is reviewed when source data changes — for example, when BNM updates the OPR or AKPK publishes new enrolment figures.

AI transparency

We use AI tools in our editorial process. We believe in full transparency about how.

Contributing analysts are AI-assisted editorial formats. Adam Tan, Daniel Lim, and Sarah Abdullah are not real individuals. They represent three distinct analytical lenses — Growth, Risk, and Action — applied consistently across credit topics.

All AI-assisted content is reviewed for factual accuracy before publication. The analytical framework is designed to surface different perspectives on the same topic, not to simulate real individuals.

AI-generated drafts and analysis are always reviewed and edited by the credit.com.my editorial team. AI is a tool in our process, not a substitute for editorial judgement.

Affiliate disclosure

credit.com.my may earn a commission if you apply for products through our links. This never affects our editorial independence or the order in which products appear.

Affiliate relationships are disclosed at the point of recommendation. We do not accept payment from banks or financial institutions in exchange for editorial coverage. Product comparisons and guides are written based on merit, not commercial arrangements.

Corrections

If you spot an error in any guide, tool, or analysis, let us know. We take factual accuracy seriously and correct errors promptly.

  • Factual errors are corrected within 24 hours of being reported.
  • Corrections are noted at the bottom of the affected page with the date of the amendment.
  • If a correction materially changes the guidance in a piece, we update the publication date to reflect the revision.

What we don't do

Transparency means being clear about boundaries as well as practices.

No personal financial advice

We publish educational content, not personalised recommendations. Your situation is unique — consult a licensed financial adviser for individual advice.

No credit report sales

We don't sell credit reports or scores. Check your CCRIS via eCCRIS (free) or your CTOS report via ctoscredit.com.my.

No data sharing

We don't share your data with banks, credit bureaus, or third parties. The tools on this site run in your browser — your inputs stay with you.
