DMP

Debt Management Programme

AKPK's free programme that consolidates your unsecured debts — cards and personal loans — into a single, affordable repayment plan agreed with your banks, often with lower or restructured instalments. You deal with AKPK instead of chasing each bank.

Under a DMP, AKPK reviews your income and debts, proposes a realistic repayment plan, and negotiates with your participating lenders to restructure the debt — for example by extending the term or easing the profit/interest so the monthly payment fits your budget. You then make one payment through the programme, and AKPK coordinates with the banks. It covers unsecured debt; secured loans like a mortgage are handled separately.

Joining a DMP is voluntary and free, and it is designed to help you repay in full over time rather than write debt off. While on the programme you generally should not take on new credit, and being on a DMP is recorded, so it can affect new applications for a while — but it is a structured recovery, not bankruptcy. Many people complete a DMP and rebuild their credit afterwards.
